rainy day

It was still all talk of heatwaves so I just grabbed a few t-shirts for a long weekend in the UK. Sooo glad I decided against shorts and even more happy I decided to take a thin jacket!

Up at silly o’clock on Friday for an 07:30 flight and off we went. Arriving at Gatwick airport it was relatively mild and dry. The usual fuss at passport control, more desks/machines closed than open but actually much better than it has been for the past couple of years.

Clearish skies on the drive from the airport to Southampton, but shortly after arrival the heavens opened up and didn’t really stop, apart from the odd short respite, until very early Tuesday morning and the return trip to the airport. And the temperature plummeted as well, quite chilly at times.

However, as the main purpose of the trip was some quality time with my granddaughter – just turned one and taking her first steps unaided – and my daughter, it was only a minor inconvenience.
