For many, many years, the cheap and cheerful Antelo bar was on the bottom corner of the square in Plaza de la Ermita and served very good tapas. Since its demise there have been several openings and closings, the latest incarnation being El Tolina.
The Hostal Acapulco sign has disappeared from the Giner de los Rios centre in calle Diputación…sudden thought: maybe it was something to do with the recent filming which took place in and around Plaza Cavana.
Lunch in Ronda was a tapas affair at Las Campinas in Plaza del Socorro. Many places in Ronda serve mixed tapas – often 10 tapas for between €9 and €12.50.
A glorious day down by the beach with calm seas and quite a few people on the sand and in the sea. I decided to stop off at Chiringuito Torrecilla 3 for a nice, cool beer and a spot of lunch. I opted for a bacon sandwich as being reasonably light but filling a gap. Well…
‘Local Produce’ or ‘Artisan’ has really expanded in the past couple of years, new places opening all the time and one of the latest being on calle El Barrio. They don’t all make it but at least they are giving it a go.
Tea Brack and Muffin, not a legal firm but a couple of snacks. Tea Brack is an Irish fruitcake which can be served cold or toasted and with or without butter.
Restaurant Avalon, attached to the Hotel Avalon, is located on a small hilltop at the entrance to Urbanisation Punta Lara in Nerja and affords magnificent views of the hills and the coastline.
Nice smooth, creamy and very tasty chocolate cake with a cherry on top, washed down with a coffee at Salvador on calle San Miguel, Nerja. Just €2.75.
It was only going to be a tapas stop at Chiringuito Sirena on the promenade at Torre del Mar (right by the lighthouse) but a look at the menu and it all changed and a full lunch became the order of the day.
Bar El Pescaito de Nicolas is located at number 45 on avenida Juan XXIII in Málaga and to say it has become a popular little tapas hotspot would be somewhat of an understatement.
