I cannot remember there not being a Francisco jewellers shop in calle El Barrio, Nerja, but all good things come to an end I suppose. The shop is closing down so, presumably, there are bargains to be had for those who are interested.
nteresting formations, colours and shades around sunset.
This delightful slice was on offer at Calahonda Bakery, calle Puerta del Mar, Nerja, and looked too nice to resist. So I didn’t. Coffee and cake €4.
Shades of August on the Balcón de Europa, Nerja, on Sunday with a veritable throng of humanity milling around. Holy Communion services resulted in large crowds around the iglesia El Salvador and these were augmented by a number of large tour groups visiting the town.
Flags lend themselves to a bit of selective colouring. This one flies in Plaza de España, Nerja.
The new slimline bins, complete with ashtrays, now adorning the Balcón de Europa are probably more aesthetically pleasing than the ones they replaced and one cannot compliment the local authority enough for paying attention to even the smallest details in the quest to refine and improve the image of the town for visitors.
Perhaps it is a case of tunnel vision, but when I think of cakes I always imagine chocolate, sponge, fruits, cheesecake or, as it was today, carrot cake. I would, and never have until today, considered such things as cabbage, broccoli, asparagus or any other ‘vegetable’ cake.
Torrecilla beach is gradually being put back together once again in preparation for the main summer season, with tons of sand being brought in, as it always is after each destructive storm, from other places. Much of the southern coast seems to need rebuilding at least a couple of times each year.
Very pleasant on the Balcón de Europa this evening. Incidentally, the works being carried out near the viewpoint are not, as I assumed, related to drainage but are in preparation for the installation of the ship’s wheel which, until now, has been located by the terrace of Kronox cafe in front of the Town Hall.
The Puente Viejo, the cobbled bridge, and the road between the Supersol roundabout and the Alcalde Villasclaras roundabout on the N-340 is now closed to traffic for a period of one month (estimated) so that repairs can be carried out. The surface of the road will also be asphalted.
