ship's wheel, Nerja

I cannot remember there not being a Francisco jewellers shop in calle El Barrio, Nerja, but all good things come to an end I suppose. The shop is closing down so, presumably, there are bargains to be had for those who are interested.

The ship’s wheel is now installed on the Balcón de Europa, although still not quite finished.

The tapas bar and restaurant Los Mariscos on calle Cristo has closed down – minute bar area but they always did good tapas – as has Torre de las Guardas on calle Chaparil. Always a reasonable place. They have apparently moved to Torrox Park.

In addition to the now normal sight of disabled, allegedly homeless and heavy drinkers begging on the streets, we now get some of the new phenomenon in parts of Europe, people being referred to a ‘beg-packers’. These are travellers who just suddenly plonk themselves down on the street, put out a bowl for donations and then just sit there motionless for hours. It is apparently the latest way to try and cover one’s travel costs.
