A bit of cloud and a fair amount of (welcome) breeze today, yellow bits of cloth adorning the poles on the beaches and the stage has been set for the Fiesta Blanca celebrations tonight on El Chucho beach. The Fiesta Blanca is scheduled to take place from 20:00 to 03:00 and the idea is very simple, just dress in white and have a good time.
The rio Chillar, of course, has no water in it as usual. Plenty of bags, bottles, cans and other rubbish along the banks, also ‘as usual’ these days, unfortunately.
On-street parking (not many are willing to pay the high prices of the municipal car parks) has been the usual nightmare this summer, but with a bit of a difference.b The Council has been unable (for nearly a year) to contract the services of a towing company – hardly surprising as, if rumours are to believed, the previous company gave up because they never got paid.
Also, it seems, parking tickets are only being issued if someone actually makes a complaint, hence cars parked on roundabouts, yellow lines, double-parked etc with impunity. When in the past could you ever leave your car in calle Diputación all night – closed to traffic from 17:00 daily to allow restaurants to put out terraces – and return the next day to no ticket and your vehicle still there?
