Interesting to read that the regional government has apparently discounted restarting the project to build a new Health Centre in Nerja due to lack of funds. The project has been hanging around since 2003 and is a regular item on Council meeting agendas. Never mind, at least in the meantime we have several severely under-utilised underground car parks (one of which had to be converted to residential parking at a token rate), a White Elephant known as Plaza España and a botanical garden we still cannot visit, all costing more than the original estimate for the Health Centre.
We also have a brand new Fire Station which currently cannot be used, the restart of the construction of a Formation Centre in the Barriada de los Poetas (started in 2003), not to mention a part-completed sewage plant. The latter, of course, is understandable as it has only been planned for a mere four decades.
It s the same everywhere. The regional government is, after a mere ten year delay, about to set in motion the construction of a sewage plant (Bajo Guadalhorce) to address the rather distasteful situation of the residual waters from Coín, Álora and Pizarra being dumped, totally untreated, into the rio Guadalhorce.
Much better to think about cake, like this delicious strawberry offering at Anahi in calle Puerta del Mar, just off the Balcón de Europa. Coffee and cake €4.50. Lovely piping hot coffee, too.
