The Mirador del Bendito is a viewpoint located at the end of calle Hernán de Carabeo (usually shortened to calle Carabeo) and looks out over Carabeillo beach to the Mediterranean.
There are two pergolas, plenty of seating and several bars and cafes in the area. In May 2011, a cannon was added, having been rescued from Calahonda beach and having had a new mount constructed. There are quite a few old cannons within the municipality, many of them half-buried.
The Mirador del Bendito is a gentle, ten minute stroll, basically flat, from the Balcón de Europa and can also be reached by car, although you might not find anywhere to park during the busy summer months.
There are often complaints, and you see this brought up in various forums, that the area is frequented, or ‘spoilt’, by the presence of vagrants with dogs, drinkers and drug users. This, I’m afraid to relate, is true. There always seems to be a small group of these individuals, day and night, although they rarely seem to cause any trouble or bother anyone else.
However, forewarned is forearmed, so if it is likely to bother you then just don’t go.
Carabeillo beach is reached by some fairly steep steps and is not suitable for those with mobility problems.
