The first drops of rain for quite a while and temperatures have dropped after a long, hot summer. I hear Tuscany is lovely at this time of year, all the more reason for Nerja to suddenly renew its ‘twinning’ ties with the picturesque Tuscan town of Pescia, famed for its flowers.
Local officials attended a ceremony in Pescia to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the twinning of Pescia with the French town of Oullins.
Nerja is also twinned with the town of San Juan in Argentina.
With the 2016 budget finally approved, lots of exciting local projects to look forward to. The Town Hall is to be fitted with full air conditioning, the Town Hall computer system is going to be updated at a cost of €600,000, a total of €847.000 has been earmarked to improve the working conditions of Town Hall employees, particularly in the cleaning service. Basically a couple more new vehicles and lots more underground rubbish containers.
The Ermita is scheduled for a bit of maintenance to the value of €180,000 and a total of €500,000 has been budgeted for the Anillo Verde, a park to be built in the area between Burriana beach and the N-340 coastal road. This latter project has been on the agenda for a number of years now.
