Bus station, Nerja

The new canopies at the Nerja ‘Bus Station’ (or layby) are more than a bit weird as the height doesn’t seem to afford any shade from the sun. Ironically, the only seats in the shade today were those under the (much lower) trees.

Many people have commented on this lack of shade afforded by the new construction. And what’s the point of having self-cleaning, self-disinfecting modern toilet blocks if they are securely padlocked the whole time? Bizarre state of affairs. Maybe they think people don’t want to go ‘out of season’ – or on Sundays. The ones in Parque Verano Azul used to be locked on Sundays.

A similar system is used in the centre of town (during July and August only) but the streets are narrow and you have three-storey buildings to assist and become side walls.
