The Parque Botánico El Majuelo – Botanical Gardens – in Almuñecar is located below the Castillo de San Miguel and right next to the ancient Roman fish salting factory and contains over 200 species of sub-tropical plants from all over the world.
There are plants and trees, including a lot of palms, from Central and South America, Africa, the Philippines and New Zealand.
This is the Common Screwpine, Pandanus utilis, from Madagascar.
The Sabal Palm, Sabal palmetto, hails from Cuba and Florida.
And its fruit.
The park is not large but does contain a lot of interesting plants and trees, well worth a look if you are in the area.
This is an interesting one, the Beaucarnea recurvata, native to Mexico, Belize and Guatemala.
There is a date palm from Laos, Phoenix roebellinii.
