On top of Monte Calamorro in Benalmádena is a Falconry and Conservation Centre with a variety of birds of prey. While I was waiting for their daily exhibition/display to start, an Osprey decided to drift in and made several dives onto the mountainside for prey. The Osprey was a visitor and not part of the centre.
Osprey (Pandion haliaetus)
Birds at the centre include the Griffon Vulture, Eagle Owl, Chilean Blue Eagle (or Black-chested Buzzard-eagle), Golden Eagle, Barn Owl, Harris’s Hawk, Red-tailed Hawk, Ferruginous Hawk, American Black Vulture, Bald Eagle and Caracara.
Birds from the centre have been used in various repopulation exercises, such as Red Kites in Wales and Southern England.
