Redstarts (Phoenicurus phoenicurus) are not very common locally but there have been a family of three at Dinton this week, the highest number seen together there at any time. There is one adult and two juveniles. I watched them for a few minutes yesterday and managed to get one or two photos although they are in an awkward position for photos. One has regularly been seen in the same spot for several years so they obviously like it and hopefully will continue to visit. They are migrant birds that prefer open woodland with short ground vegetation.
