Wildlife in the Slow Lane. Nature and wildlife photos and information
Southlake is mostly frozen over at the moment although there are a few clear patches of water. There are less ducks but lots of gulls. It is still a nice walk though, especially if the sun tries to shine. Red Kites are very visible and flying quite low.
This second shot shows a Red Kite pecking at something in its feet while in flight but is not the greatest photo as it was a spur-of-the-moment snap.
There are large numbers of blackbirds, both male and female. This is a female blackbird rooting around among the dead leaves.
You couldn’t get this background effect if you tried but it is completely natural.
