This rather colourful butterfly is the Sara Longwing, Heliconius sara, a species of neotropical heliconiid butterfly usually found all the way from Mexico to the Amazon Basin and southern Brazil. The wing surface is black with a large patch of metallic blue and two bands of white on the forewings. It has a wingspan of 55–60 mm.
