Nine o’clock on Sunday evenng and El Pulguilla on calle Cristo, Nerja, was pretty full. The bar area was packed and almost all the tables on both terraces were full. I would imagine around 90 to 100 tables, but don’t quote me.
We went for raciones – bigger than tapas but smaller than a full meal – with clams, filetillos (fillets of pork) and Calamares (squid rings fried in batter. Bread and alioli (garlicky mayonnaise sort of stuff) completed the meal.
The filetillos were well cooked and tender, the clams were as they should be and the calamares were tender and not as (deep fried) fatty as they can be in some places. Altogether an excellent meal.
The fact that it is always busy, often packed to the rafters inside and out, says a lot about the place and it is a favourite stopping place for many people on Tapas Runs. If nothing else, make sure you pop in for tapas, you won’t be disappointed.
