Perhaps it is a case of tunnel vision, but when I think of cakes I always imagine chocolate, sponge, fruits, cheesecake or, as it was today, carrot cake. I would, and never have until today, considered such things as cabbage, broccoli, asparagus or any other ‘vegetable’ cake.
A bit of research and I discovered umpteen recipes for all sorts of cakes, so I obviously need to broaden my horizons. Having said that, I cannot recall ever having seen a Red Cabbage Cake or Broccoli Cake on offer in any cake shop, but they must presumably be on offer somewhere judging by the number of available recipes.
Back to today and it was a very tasty slice of carrot cake at Good Stuff (corner of calle San Miguel and avenida Castilla Perez, Nerja), just the right consistency for me. Coffee and cake €4.80, so at the top end of the scale.
