Tapas platter

Tapas (derived from the Spanish verb tapar, ‘to cover’) are very much a social institution in Spain, a regular part of everyday life.

Some bars offer a free tapa with each drink, others charge for their snacks. In the beautiful town of Ronda, many of the bars and restaurants offer a tapas platter of up to a dozen different snacks.

Each town, province and region has its own specialities, often using local ingredients, and tapas has, in many places, evolved into an elaborate part of Spanish cuisine.
